October is Breast Cancer Action Month!
Breast cancer is a complex disease that will affect 1 in 9 Canadian women during their lifetime.
According to the latest statistics, it is estimated that 25,000 women and 220 men in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and that 5,000 women and 60 men will die from the disease in 2015.
Manitoba EMRs, Stretcher Car Attendants, Support Personnel, Paramedics, Paramedic Students and Communications Staff can show their support for breast cancer awareness by proudly wearing pink epaulettes during the month of October.
The cost of each pair of epaulettes is $20.00, and net proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Region. Online orders will be accepted until August 31st, and the epaulettes delivered prior to the end of September.
