Infection Prevention Control Delegate - Red Cross

Are you interested in helping the Red Cross Ebola Response in West Africa?

As part of the co-ordinated response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the Canadian Red Cross is seeking qualified personnel to join the fight against Ebola. The Red Cross has established Ebola Treatment Centres in West Africa. The Canadian Red Cross is currently seeking qualified infection control and prevention workers to serve in these Ebola Treatment Centres.

Selected applicants who meet the health and professional standards established by the Canadian Red Cross will be deployed to a Red Cross Ebola Treatment Centre in West Africa over the next few months.

Prior to deployment, the Red Cross will provide the qualified individuals with mission-specific training including an extensive practical course on Ebola and related safety procedures. All deploying personnel who are new to the Red Cross will also receive Red Cross-specific training.
Each mission will initially be limited to four weeks due to the hardship of having to work under heavy personal protective equipment. Upon return to Canada, contracts will be extended for an additional three week rest period after deployment during which instructions will be provided on how to self monitor. During the rest period individuals are expected to not go back to their place of work.

Anyone who deploys as part of this initiative will be placed under a Red Cross contract with pay and benefits.

Included are copies of the relevant job posting and FAQs for deploying in support of the Ebola Response.
